About the project
Printed on recycled paper, with a stringent layout and impressive depth of field, the catalog of Julian Röder’s disturbing photographs at the Kunstsammlung Jena appears like a compact magazine.
The photographer, who was born in Erfurt in 1981, documents our society’s mechanisms and interconnections and unmasks our agreements on growth, prosperity, and democracy. We accompany him to the world’s largest arms fair in Abu Dhabi, to cultic celebrations in Siberia, to Art Basel’s business, and ask ourselves with concern: what is going on here?
